Choose the Listening experience that fits your goal

Choose a flexible Practice Mode for learning or a focused, computer-delivered Exam Mode for test-day rehearsal. Your questions, saved answers, scoring, and results stay consistent in either mode.

Listening practice now adapts to what you want from a session. Pick the more supportive Practice Mode when you are studying a skill, or switch to Exam Mode when you want to rehearse the pace and pressure of the computer-delivered test.

Practice Mode: learn while you listen

Practice Mode keeps the flexible IELTSly listening workspace. You can pause, replay, or move through the recording when you need another chance to hear a detail. On supported tests, the transcript helps you follow the recording, and the built-in notepad gives you a place to capture names, numbers, spellings, or other clues without leaving the page.

Use this mode when you want to slow down, investigate mistakes, or concentrate on one listening skill at a time.

Exam Mode: rehearse the real flow

Exam Mode uses a focused computer-test layout and a stricter audio experience. Each part plays once; pause, replay, and seeking are disabled after it begins. You can still adjust the volume, move between questions, change answers, and flag questions to review. A two-minute review period at the end gives you a final chance to check your work before submitting.

Your work stays consistent

Both modes use the same test questions and scoring. Answers are saved as you work, and supported sessions can be resumed if you leave before finishing. The mode changes the experience—not how your result is calculated.

Choose your mode from the Listening test instructions before you start. Exam Mode is an IELTSly practice simulation and is not official IELTS test software.
