Choose Practice or Real CD IELTS Mode in Reading

Choose flexible timed or untimed Reading practice, or rehearse in a focused computer-delivered test simulation. Both modes keep your answers, autosave, scoring, and results connected to IELTSly.

Reading tests now let you choose the experience that matches your goal before you begin. Use Practice Mode when you want the full set of learning tools, or choose Real CD IELTS Mode when you want a more focused rehearsal of the computer-delivered test.

Practice Mode: study at your pace

Practice Mode keeps the familiar IELTSly Reading workspace, including contextual vocabulary help, highlighting, notes, a free-form notepad, resizable passage and question panes, autosave, and review tools.

Choose **Timed Practice** when you want to work on pacing with a countdown. Choose **Untimed Practice** when you want to analyse a passage, practise a question type, or learn without watching the clock. You can still submit the attempt for scoring when you are ready.

Real CD IELTS Mode: rehearse a focused test flow

Real CD IELTS Mode uses a desktop-first layout inspired by the computer-delivered IELTS experience. Confirm the candidate details, read the instructions, and start the fixed timer when you are ready.

During the test you can:

- read the passage and questions in independent panes - resize the panes and adjust the text size - move directly between question numbers - flag questions for review - highlight text and attach contextual notes - open Help or use full-screen mode without stopping the timer

Full Reading tests use 60 minutes, while an individual passage uses 20 minutes in timed modes. Real CD IELTS Mode is always timed.

What stays the same

Both modes use the same questions and IELTSly scoring. Your answers autosave during the attempt, completed work opens in the usual results and review experience, and the selected mode is recorded with the result so you can understand the conditions behind a score.

Choose a mode from the Reading start screen each time you begin a test. Real CD IELTS Mode is an IELTSly simulation and is not official IELTS test software.
